Student Council Elections
The new academic year is now fully underway, UIS is teaching students to be responsible citizens. As in all societies, representation is needed and UIS student faculty is no different. Students were peer-nominated, or self-nominated to run for a various positions on the student council. Through out the duration of their campaign , candidates gave speeches at both our Main campus and our North York campus in order to gain votes at the two cam-puses. On September 28th, students finally made their choices and UIS’s student president and two vice presidents were elected. Congratulations Mai Loc Nguyen (President), Frank Zhou (Vice President 1), and Jaewoo Seong (Vice President 2) for your success! They will now be the voice of UIS student-body. IELTS Mock Test—September
UIS IELTS Mock test was held on Sept 21st. It was a great success once again. We has a good turnout for both the Main and North York Campus. Like all tests, students were apprehensive about writing the exam and some feared for the possible disappointment after the result came out this was no different. This was a full day affair, we tested the students in both the writing and speaking portions of the exam to simulate a real exam that they would need to take. After six long hours, the test was completed. The exams were marked promptly by English and ESL teachers. Students found this a good opportunity for themselves to learn where they stand in terms of the end goal for univer-sity/college entrance. This IELTS mock test will continue in order to improve the quality of student education and counselling. Students should use the opportunity to see where they stand in terms of IELTS scoring and we hope it will help them determine what they need to work on. Based on the score, our counsellors will continue to advise students on what needs to be done in order for them to achieve their academic dreams.
